Rana Bansal 
Managing Partner

Prior to Awaken Partners, Rana executed private and public equity investments in the energy, industrials and financial services sectors at Crestview Partners, a New York based private equity firm managing over USD $10 billion.


Prior to Crestview, Rana worked in Private Equity at Sculptor Capital Management (f.k.a. Och-Ziff Capital Management), on the Council of Economic Advisors at the White House, and at multiple public and private technology companies including Tableau Software (f.k.a. NYSE:DATA, acquired by Salesforce) and (NYSE:AMZN).

While studying economics at Harvard College, Rana conducted research at the Harvard School of Public Health to evaluate systemic global inequities in healthcare and technology access, with a focus on environmental, health and safety (EHS) resources in Africa and Asia.

At Harvard Law School, Rana is a member of the Environmental and Energy Law Program, which provides innovative, rigorous legal analysis to facilitate the global climate transition. He was also selected as a contributor to the inaugural sessions of The Salata Institute for Climate and Sustainability at Harvard University in 2022.

Selected Investment Experience:

  • LBO: Closed leveraged buyout of ~USD $500 million TEV electronic manufacturing services provider

  • Roll-Up: Invested ~USD $100 million in industrial plastic manufacturing facilities across 5 U.S. states

  • Recapitalization: Invested ~USD $70 million in variable annuity insurance platform

  • Special Situations: Invested USD $40+ million of follow-on financing in public energy company

  • ESG Management: Designed 50 ESG KPIs across 26 portfolio companies and initiated 3 diversity hiring programs.

Ryan Voon
Managing Partner

Prior to Awaken Partners, Ryan worked at Goldman Sachs Hong Kong and Singapore where he was on the commodities institutional sales team. The team provided analysis and solutions for clients to meet their ESG needs, and notably executed the first EU carbon derivative transaction in the APAC region. Ryan also served on the APAC Global Markets Division Analyst and Associate council where he led sustainability initiatives.


Prior to Goldman Sachs, Ryan held a variety of roles at the Asian School of Business, at intheHood Hospitality Group, and at Credit Suisse Hong Kong.

While studying government at Harvard College, Ryan conducted extensive research on the intersection between political systems and sustainability. In particular, he focused on how companies and local governments can incorporate sustainable practices to address social issues in the global value chain.

In a volunteer capacity, Ryan was previously a consultant at Asia Value Advisors, a philanthropy advisory organization that engages organisations to create sustainable impacts. Ryan currently serves on Harvard College’s Recent Graduate Leadership Committee and is a member of the GCNS Youth Alliance. Ryan holds the Certificate in ESG investing from the CFA Institute and is also an EFFAS Certified ESG Analyst (CESGA).
